Vinh Thanh Industrial Park (IP), also known as VSIP Can Tho, in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, has completed 95.98% of the site clearance.
Can Tho Chairman Tran Viet Truong disclosed the information at a working session with local citizens on Sunday. The event also had the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
VSIP Can Tho, built per Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) model, has already signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with 18 corporate tenants for 100 hectares, Truong added.
For the remaining area of the facility, an Israeli investor is studying leasing 200 hectares. This investor is willing to collaborate with the industrial park to speed up the infrastructure construction, Truong highlighted.
The first projects in VSIP Can Tho are expected to enter operation in late 2025-early 2026, Truong emphasized.
Construction of VSIP Can Tho, the first VSIP park in the Mekong Delta, began in September 2023. Once completed, the 900-hectare facility is expected to employ 100,000 people and attract investments of $3.5 billion.
The first phase of 293.7 hectares will provide jobs for 20,000-30,000 people, it is estimated.
Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) is a joint venture between Vietnam’s Becamex IDC and Singapore’s Sembcorp Development Group. The first VSIP was established in 1996. The joint venture now operates 18 VSIP facilities in 13 localities across Vietnam. Several more were planned in the country.
