Tatsu Works is pulling the plug on Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates, ending a three-year journey backed by $7.5 million in venture capital.

Blockchain game developer Tatsu Works said it’s stopping the development of its MMORPG-lite title “Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates,” three years after raising $7.5 million in venture funding.

📜 Embracing What’s Next For Tatsu

Today, we’d like to share a difficult decision. The Tatsu team has discontinued the development of Tatsumeeko.

However, we’re still here.

The Singapore-based company said in a Monday blog announcement the decision followed several rounds of playtests that showed promise but ultimately didn’t meet the team’s expectations for a sustainable product.

“While the concepts were exciting and there were many moments of promise, the end results didn’t give us the confidence to move forward in a way that would be sustainable. We know this news may be disappointing for those who were excited about Lumina Fates, and we deeply appreciate the time, passion, and anticipation you invested in its journey.”

Tatsu Works

Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates was designed to run on Ethereum and Solana blockchains, integrating NFTs to offer unique digital assets and a new business model for the game. The project built on the success of Tatsu.GG, a Discord-based platform reportedly used by over 1.4 million communities and 60 million users for gamification.

“We remain committed to creating experiences that live, breathe, and evolve with their communities. With Project: Wander already in development, we’re aiming to bring your digital third places to life like never before. It will serve as a humble collaborator to your creativity.”

Tatsu Works

Despite ending development on Lumina Fates, the company says it’s shifting focus back to its core strength — building games that grow and evolve within existing communities. Tatsu Works also promised to convert existing NFTs like Meekolony Passes and Aethereal Parcels into new utilities for upcoming projects, ensuring past participants remain part of the evolving ecosystem.

Tatsu Works raised $7.5 million in June 2022 through a seed funding round for Tatsumeeko: Lumina Fates, led by DeFiance Capital, Delphi Ventures, and Bitkraft Ventures. Other investors included Binance Labs, Animoca Brands, Dialectic, and GuildFi.
