Gautam Adani has replaced Mukesh Ambani as India’s wealthiest person having a net worth of Rs 11.6 lakh crore, as per the 2024 Hurun India Rich List. Adani’s net worth rose by 95 per cent to Rs 11.6 lakh crore last year, giving him the push to.take the top position.
Meanwhile, Ambani’s net worth rose by 25 per cent to Rs 10.14 lakh crore. In 2023, Adani’s wealth dropped by 57 per cent to Rs 4.74 lakh crore, while Ambani remained far ahead with a fortune of Rs 8.08 lakh crore.
The drop in Adani’s wealth had come at the heels of the Hindenburg report. The Adani Group had denied all the claims made by the report. In the 2014 edition, Hurun estimated Adani’s wealth at Rs 44,000 crore, placing him as the tenth richest Indian at the time.
Shiv Nadar and family of HCL jumped up a spot, becoming the third richest with a net worth of Rs 3.14 lakh crore, while Cyrus Poonawalla dropped a notch to the fourth rank with Rs 2.89 lakh crore.
