The department of telecommunications (DoT) will conduct a survey among startups and other companies to understand challenges faced by them in utilising advanced technologies and adapting to Industry 4.0.
The survey, which will be conducted by Telecom Centre of Excellence India (TCoE) will aim at coming up with an ecosystem capable of capitalising on the capabilities offered by AI, IoT (internet of things), cloud computing and the integration of 5G and 6G networks.
This would include identifying sector-specific needs in at least 10 sectors – and preferences, recognising the diverse landscape of MSMEs and providing targeted support to foster innovation and competitiveness, according to a government release.
The survey will stretch over a 60-day period and cover five sectors each in North and Southern parts of India.
The key recommendations will form the platform for policy interventions to achieve the adoption of Industry 4.0 leading to enhanced competitive positioning and survivability of MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises).
“The survey should not only address immediate
barriers to digital transformation but also pave the way for the cyber-physical system through seamless integration of appropriate sensors using 5G /6G technologies ultimately driving sustainable growth across sectors,” TCoE said.
The DoT has asked organisations and startups to submit proposals by June 11 to participate in the survey.
