Baba Kalyani, chairman and managing director of Bharat Forge, has filed objections to the new will of his mother, Late Sulochana Kalyani. Viraj Kalyani, executor of the new will, had filed for probate of the new will at the Pune District Court and the first hearing was held on Monday.
Gaurishankar, younger brother of Baba Kalyani, has contested the old will dated January 27, 2012 after the executioners, Madan Takale and Shrikrishna Adivarekar, filed a probate application in the Pune civil court.
According to Gaurishankr, his mother had made a new will dated December 9, 2022, which overrides the earlier one, and filed an affidavit in the court in this regard. Viraj Kalyani, Gaurishankar’s son, was appointed the executor of the new will and initiated procedures to implement the same. Sulochana died in February 2023.
Both the Kalyani brothers are staking claim to their mother’s wealth through two different wills. Baba Kalyani denied allegations insinuating that he had coerced or exercised influence on his mother when she had made her first will in 2012.
Further hearings on the Kalyani wills are scheduled for next month.
Meanwhile, the hearing in the mediation case between Baba Kalyani and his nephew and niece, Sameer Hiremthc and Pallavi Hiremath-Swadi (children of sister Sugandha Hiremath), was scheduled for Monday, but Baba Kalyani’s legal team did not attend the hearing.
The Pune District Legal Service Authority started the mediation on August 9 regarding the division of family assets between Baba Kalyani and his sister’s children under the Hindu Undivided Family.
The next hearing in this case will take place on October 7.
