Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has signed a concession agreement with DPA to develop Berth No 13 at Deendayal Port, Kandla, Gujarat on Wednesday. According to a statement from APSEZ, DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal Limited (DPACCCTL), a wholly-owned company, will manage operations at the berth.
Berth is scheduled to be put into service in FY27 and will carry multifunctional cargo.
The letter of intent (LOI) for the development, operation and maintenance of the berth was received by APSEZ for a concessionary 30-year period in July 2024. The announcement states that APSEZ will build the berth for multifunctional clean cargo, including container cargo, under the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer) model.
APSEZ CEO and whole-time director Ashwani Gupta said, “Berth No. 13 will diversify our presence at Deendayal Port. We will now handle multipurpose clean cargo at the port, in addition to dry bulk cargo that we already handle.” According to the statement, the berth will strengthen the company’s position on the western coast and improve its capacity to cater to clients in Gujarat and northern India.
The 300-meter-long Berth No 13 has a yearly capacity of 5.7 MMT. It is likely to be commissioned in FY27.
The largest port developer and operator in India, APSEZ, is a part of the globally diversified Adani Group and has seven strategically positioned ports and terminals on the west coast and eight ports on the east coast.
